Yes, Animals do feel fear and pain, I will admit that.  However, Global warming doesn’t exist. The climate changes 4 times a year. It’s been like that since the beginning of time and it will remain that way until the world ends. When we step outside and it’s 97 degrees, Do you know what happens a few months later? It gets cold again. Secondly, What do animals have to do with the climate?  Next, People constantly make posts saying “why would you eat one, But not the other” and it has a picture of like a dog and a pig or something…. In other cultures, They DO eat dog. And in other cultures they DON’T eat pig. You seem to forget that there’s more than just the traditional, American culture on this earth.  What does heart disease have to do with eating meat verses being vegan/vegetarian? “Oh studies show that people who eat meat are more likely to suffer from heart disease.” Well, Yes if you’re eating greasy cheeseburgers all the time, Of course you’re at risk for that. However, If you’re eating clean/lean meat- You’re at no greater risk. ANYONE could get heart disease. In fact fish oil is GREAT for your heart. Do you know what fish is? A meat.  Again, What does cancer have to do with eating meat or being vegetarian? Anyone can get cancer. You know what else causes cancer? Smoking, But I promise not everyone who smokes has cancer. You can slim down while eating meat. You can also feel good. There is no proof that ALL vegetarians live longer. If you take a vegetarian who eats healthy and compare them to someone shoving 14 oz steaks down their throat every night, Then yeah you’re probably right. Try comparing them to someone who eats lean meats like chicken and fish. I guarantee they’re both plenty and equally healthy if they’re getting the proper nutrients. Regardless of the fact if they eat meat or not.   Drinking Mountain Dew can cause “Impotence”. So can getting old….There’s a Viagra for that.Plus, I don’t have a dick so why should I care?  Finally, There’s only an abundance of grain used to feed animals because it’s made TO feed the animals. If there were no animals to be fed, There would be no grain made. We could use our animals to “feed the worlds hungry”. Plus, You can’t just live off one food group.  With that said, I would like to say that I don’t have a problem with vegans/vegetarians. I have a problem with vegans and vegetarians who go around telling other people they’re wrong for not “being like them”. Same thing goes for meat eaters. Don’t tell someone else how to live their life. Especially if it doesn’t effect you. I also hate when people try to make their argument by misusing their “facts”.

Firstly, how does this sign tell people they’re “wrong” for eating meat? This sign suggests that going veg is good and has many benefits. Nothing negative about that.
The hell global warming doesn’t exist. Have you not read up about it at all? It’s a very real thing that is harmful to the earth. Crowds of livestock emit methane gases due to their improper grain diet, which contribute to the emission of greenhouse gases. So yes, animals DO have something to do with global warming, but you don’t care enough about the matter to read up on it because you won’t be here when global warming begins to have a huge impact on the earth and the effects take place. Therefore, it’s not a big deal to you, even if your descendants have to deal with it.
You also don’t care that animal protein can cause impotence because you don’t have a dick. That’s no justification to not care about something, especially if it’s concerning health. This can affect your male friends and relatives, so how can you say you don’t care?
If this sign was posted in America, they’re going to aim it at Americans, dumbass. Most Americans would agree that it’s wrong to eat a dog, therefore they will use that argument to justify a point. We know there are other cultures that eat dogs, but this sign isn’t in Korea, okay?
“What does heart disease have to do with eating meat verses being vegan/vegetarian?” A lot. People who don’t eat greasy cheeseburgers every day but who still eat meat get heat disease. Yes, anyone could get heart disease, but your risks are SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER on a veg diet.
Oh, and nice try with the fish oil. It doesn’t justify your argument because people who eat meat and who are at risk for disease eat COOKED FLESH. Cooked meat is the reason for heart disease and cancer. If raw meat caused it, carnivorous animals would die of these problems just as often as humans. The meat humans consume is deep fried, barbecued, flame broiled, and cooked well done before smothered in butter and cheese in order for it to taste good. I honestly believe it’s not necessarily the meat itself that causes these problems, but the way it’s prepared. Cooking meat at all with a flame or any other heat source releases carcinogens in the meat and basically contaminates it. Therefore, based on our anatomy (lack of claws, night vision, or razor-sharp teeth), we would not be able to eat meat at all in a primitive society unless we ate it raw, but we don’t because the thought of killing and eating an animal right on the spot, blood and guts and anything, disgusts us. So we made machines that would cook meat and made sauces to cover it with to make it taste good. But you know, you can take a turd and deep fry it, sautee it, and cover it with ketchup and make it taste good. That doesn’t mean you should eat it.
Cancer is virtually preventable with a veg diet, without smoking, and by staying out of the sun for extended periods. In fact, there have been cases of cancer patients being cured without the use of chemo by simply adopting a raw vegan diet.
“There’s only an abundance of grain used to feed animals because it’s made TO feed the animals. If there were no animals to be fed, There would be no grain made.” You just undid your whole argument. Grain is grown in excess BECAUSE we have so many livestock that we have to feed. But, if you did your homework, you would know that cows aren’t meant to eat grain; they’re meant to eat grass. We could feed all the livestock AND third world countries by simply giving the surplus grain to the countries and by giving cows their natural diet back. All this food is grown to feed cows that aren’t even meant to eat grain, cows that we aren’t even meant to eat at all, while other countries are still struggling to find clean WATER. Do you not see where the problem is?
Veggies aren’t about telling people they’re wrong for eating meat. We just want to educate and give the facts, facts that can be backed up with scientific evidence and with logical arguments that don’t use lame excuses like, “It tastes good, so I’m gonna keep eating it.”
Read up. You won’t regret it.

This sign is not blatantly telling people they’re wrong.  It is merely implying omnivores are wrong, and it uses inaccurate and dangerous information to back up such claims.  This sign was posted outside the apartment of the photographer who is clearly rejoicing at the fact that meat eaters going to prepare their meals see this sign on a daily basis and feel like they’re wrong (whether or not that was the intention of the maker of said sign…which it most likely was).
Global warming does NOT exist in the form that you seem to think it does.  Since this planet has had an atmosphere, the temperature has been rising and falling.  I’m pretty sure we humans have not been around for 4 billion years, and we haven’t been sitting around affecting the climate change since the beginning of time.  Yes, the planet does warm and cool in cycle.  Yes, the globe does warm, but it has nothing to do with the blatant lies that are being spread about what we tiny insignificant humans are doing to the earth.  There have been periods in earth’s history where the green house gases were higher than they are today - even before we were even remotely close to coming into our own.  Now when it comes to getting facts about this so called crisis on our hands, wouldn’t you rather get those facts from actual scientists who know what they’re talking about?  People who actually have done studies to prove their findings aren’t just rubbish or some ridiculous political agenda.  Meat has nothing to do with “global warming”.  We have nothing to do with “global warming”.  The sun has EVERYTHING to do with “global warming”.   - http://educate-yourself.org/cn/globalwarmingdeception05feb07.shtml
Even though this sign clearly isn’t in Korea, it sill isn’t a valid argument for why you should not eat meat/animal products.  It is offensive..if I were someone who ate dog or horse meat, I would be offended.
Cooking meats and releasing carcinogens may be all fine and dandy, but on the National Cancer Institute’s homepage, it states, “Exposure to high levels of HCAs and PAHs can cause cancer in animals; however, whether such exposure causes cancer in humans is unclear”.  It is unclear……UNCLEAR.  PAHs are even found in cigarette smoke and car exhaust fumes.  The next logical step would obviously be to ban cars altogether since we’re already in the process of banning smoking.  The animal experimentation that took place was done at such a high level, they were thousands of times higher than what any given person would be exposed to in a normal diet.  Several more studies are taking place, so I’m sure we’ll know the “truth” soon enough.  - http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/factsheet/Risk/cooked-meats
Heart Disease, assuming that the correlation here between meat and Heart Disease is that consuming more meat raises your cholesterol…which in turn raises your risk for heart disease, this is all I have to say

“There’s no connection whatsoever between the cholesterol in food and cholesterol in the blood. And we’ve known that all along. Cholesterol in the diet doesn’t matter at all..”
“The second tenet of the cholesterol-heart disease hypothesis, the notion that high cholesterol levels in the blood cause heart disease, most researchers now believe the primary causes of heart disease are inflammation and oxidative stress.”
“In the Framingham Heart Study, which is the longest-running and perhaps most significant study on heart disease done to date, it was demonstrated that intake of cholesterol in the diet had absolutely no correlation with heart disease.”

Cancer is never virtually preventable.  Genetic mutations cause cancers all the time.  Changes in your diet may be able to give you a bost in trying to prevent cancer, but you can never virtually prevent something as unpredictable as cancer.  You exercise, you eat no meat/no animal products whatsoever, you don’t smoke, you apply sunscreen every day before going outside and reapply after it wears off, you take fish oils, you take supplements to fill the holes in your diet caused by not eating animal products, you get enough protein, you get 7 hours of sleep, you practice yoga, you relax, you manage stress…..you still end up getting cancer.  Tell my cousin that cancer is virtually preventable with a vegan diet.
The “get skinny” argument is one of the most ridiculous and superficial reasons I have ever heard to go veg.  Being vegetarian/vegan is becoming a fashion statement.  It’s being used as get fit quick diet plans..which is just wrong.  People automatically assume being vegan is so much better for you, when in actuality a lot of the vegan products out there are pretty bad for you too.

“I received a lot of feedback on my post about large animal organizations using fat shaming as part of their advocacy. Between the comments I received as well as reading the comments on well written blog posts on the subject such as this and this, that body image and fat shaming are a serious issue in the vegan community.
Not only are we dealing with the pressure of traditional body image issues that everyone deals with, especially women, in this unhealthy and perverse culture, but we are dealing with it within our own community. Many vegans responded by saying that they are overweight and face negative attitudes regularly within the community. Some said that they’ve been told that they should closet themselves so as to not make veganism look unhealthy. There are many reasons why someone may be overweight – some physical and some emotional. Neither may automatically disappear because one stops consuming flesh and secretions.
“As a dietitian, I can tell you that the idea that “being fat is 100% the fault of the person” is dead wrong. There are hundreds and hundreds of studies on obesity and scientists still don’t have the answer about what causes it. Please be careful about placing blame when you don’t understand the science,” said Ginny Messina, R.D., M.P.H. “The obesity research is extremely extensive and complex and the one thing that obesity experts agree on is that no one has the answers about this difficult problem. It’s extraordinarily unkind–and completely unscientific–to insist that anyone can be thin if they want to.”
Veganism is much more than what one chooses to eat, wear, entertain themselves and purchase in terms of cosmetics and household items. Animal rights at its core is about justice. It is a social justice movement that places an animal’s right to be left to his or her own devices as the center of justice.
Why am I defining veganism to vegans? Because sadly, we seem to be moving further and further away from the core of it and more towards a superficial, material definition that focuses on diet, cookbooks, trendy fashion and body images. Veganism is not superficial, nor should it give a shit about the size and shape of your body.
Which brings me back to body shaming. I read many comments about how vegans need to be thin, attractive, and healthy if we really want to help animals. Huh? Vegans need to be vocal, consistent, educated on all nonhuman issues, eloquent, patient, active and willing to fight for the rights and dignity of nonhumans. Period. Attacking someone or shaming someone over the size and shape of their body doesn’t help animals.
Shaming vegans who have made the choice to be a pariah in this culture by abstaining from exploiting other animals, is shameful in itself. It is difficult enough to cope and heal from the traumatic awareness of the animal holocaust; to be attacked because of your body shape literally adds insult to injury.
Ethical vegans shouldn’t care about what other vegans are eating, as long as they are not eating animals and their secretions, shouldn’t judge other vegans about the size of their bodies, or be concerned with how physically attractive we are to the people who are supporting exploitation and oppression. I would like to see vegans get clear about the ethics behind animal rights, and not let us lose this fight before we’ve really even started.”

Feed composition of cattle and sheep - http://www.ext.colostate.edu/pubs/livestk/01615.html  And for those people who believe “global warming” is a crisis,http://news.discovery.com/earth/grass-fed-beef-grain.html is an article talking about Australian studies finding that grass-fed bovines produce significantly more methane gases that their grain-fed counterparts.  I would think that the more methane, the more of an affect there is on “global warming”.  Even if we used our “excess” of grains to feed the world, 90% of the word’s people wouldn’t eat them.  We genetically modify our crops to be better and produce more.  Other cultures won’t touch our genetically modified crops.  These scientists - http://www.nature.com/news/2009/090820/full/news.2009.841.html, found the genetic code and developed drought and flood tolerant rice to be used in the poorest regions of the world.  They were turned down, and it took cross-pollinating and breeding to develop the same GM rice plants in significantly more time.
You can’t speak for all veggies when you say they don’t want to prove omnivores wrong because most of the time they do.  There are plant eaters I know personally who are sweet as pie and couldn’t care less what I ate, and there are the other veggies I know who lecture me on my food choices.  Strangely enough, the only “evidence” I ever hear from them are the points on that stupid sign.  I never hear any facts.  I never hear about any studies.  There is never any scientific proof presented to back up their insults.  More than half of the veggies I know are self-righteous, pompous,  assholes who love nothing more than to think they’re proving other people wrong or that they’re somehow better than you because, god forbid, you eat meat.
Where are the facts?   Where are the scientific studies?  Where is the proof?
Personally, I would like the evidence to be presented to me before I hear all about how my meat eating is going to kill the earth.

Oh my god, is this shit legit?I’m not going to bother arguing the rest of these points. But seriously, ‘Global warming does not exist?’What.Yes, global warming  exists.

Actual scientists? like 97-98% of all publishing scientists in the feild who agree with the Intergovernment Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) that anthropogenic climate change is actually occuring? (http://www.pnas.org/content/107/27/12107) Of that disagreeing 3%, it’s been found that 9 of the 10 most actively publishing skeptics are linked to ExxonMobil - the oil company. (http://www.carbonbrief.org/blog/2011/04/900-papers-supporting-climate-scepticism-exxon-links)
And you think the climate scientists agreeing with anthropogenic climate change have a questionable agenda?
Oh yeah, and as for the Dr. Tim Ball website (not published paper) you cited, you should probably also know his previous credentials include:- scientific advisor to the oil industry backed ‘friends of science’ group.
- was quoted as saying “A warmer Canada would improve our lives in these and other ways too numerous to list. Global warming? Let’s hope so,” he wrote in June 2006” - obviously ignoring the completely detrimental effects it is currently having for crops, native flora and fauna.
-  was chairman of Natural Resources Stewardship Project - which has since been debunked after it’s found to be controlled by energy industry lobbyists. (http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Tim_Ball#cite_note-FCCP-4)
among his many other ‘scientific’ credentials ;)
Throughout the past few decades, while society has begun believing less in anthropogenic climate change, the scientific community (actual, scientists, published in PEER-REVIEWED journals (where actual research is published and reviewed rigorously for faults in testing, assumptions etc.) has become much more certain that anthropogenic climate change is, indeed, occurring. Although 97% of published scientists agree with the IPCC’s consensus, another study of 928 papers in peer reviewed scientific journals containing the words ‘climate change’ in their abstract, finding that 75% supported the IPCC’s consensus, 25% had no opinion/were regarding different aspects of climate change, and a grand total of 0% disagreed.
Peer-reviewed scientific journals review all scientific papers published regarding the testing methods, the content and pretty much everything possible to give a faulty or misleading result/conclusion. The importance of them is crucial to minimising bias’, conflicts of interests, and dodgy science in order to achieve truth, facts and unbiased results.
I tend to trust the overwhelming majority of the peer-reviewed scientific papers written by ‘actual scientists’, as opposed to bloggers ;)
